Wedding on Direction Island

Michelle and Brad have been together for many years and it was their desire to have a beautiful island wedding. Brad, working on Cocos, decided that Direction Island fitted the bill perfectly. So under clear blue skies with turquoise blue waters of the Cocos Lagoon, Michelle and Brad exchanged personal vows with their two boys and close friends.

Congratulations Michelle and Brad on the beautiful Cocos Barefoot Wedding. I'm so glad to have shared your special day and can't wait for you to see your gorgeous wedding coffee table book.

SURFING: Mitch Carves up Cocos

Finally managed to take myself down to the local surfing break and capture my step-son in action. Mid afternoon is not the optimum time of day for photographing the surfers in action - just too much glare from the afternoon sun. However, Mitch was pretty pleased with the action shots I was able to take of him. Of course, the local surfing fraternity will say "What surf on Cocos???......" With one break, expensive air fares, I doubt Cocos will ever become a surfing mecca....

Baby "F"

A few months ago, I had the pleasure of an impromptu "baby bump" session with my good friend and diving partner Leah. Leah and her husband, Rohan, have just returned to Cocos with their gorgeous little bundle of joy. Congratulations to you both. Can't wait to take some more photos of your special little boy.

"Let's go Twitching....."

It's been fairly quiet on Cocos, hence my lack of updating the blog. However, my good friend Pam from Dorys Cafe and I went on a little expedition, bird watching. We managed to snap some unusal egrets. Great afternoon - thanks Pam.

Anzac Day 2011

"Let Go" ~ A tribute to ANZAC day by Kireina Johnston

It's hard to let go of a loved one; but trust me when I say
Better now than never, though parts of you may fray
There's no use holding on, when you know you must let go
Your heart will only get heavier, and the guilt you feel will grow.

Do not mourn for the lost, but neither should you forget
Their spirits shall love on, their paths to heaven are set.
What happened can not be changed, but do not blame it on fate
Say good-bye now, before it becomes too late.

Tonight we will remember them, and the sacrifices they made
How they marched through endless darkness, until their shadows began to fade.

It's Been A While

It's been a while since I posted anything meaningful and interesting. That's because I've been away with hubby, Dieter and good friends Nicky and Barry. We've been enjoying the delights of the underwater world of Christmas Island and also playing in the beautiful "jungle".

The diving was superb (as usual). Our efficient boat driver and owner of Wet & Dry Adventures, Hama and his bubbly divemaster and friend Lynnie, ensured our diving experience was second to none, even if we were a little cheeky! We enjoyed eight fantastic days of diving the various sites Christmas Island has to offer.

Thanks Hama and Lynnie, we will be back next year. See you then!

My Week as I Saw It

This week has been spent mainly in my underwater office of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands along with my hubby and four diving friends. It's been an amazing week with some wonderful interaction with wild dolphins who thought it would be great fun buzzing us noisey divers. Our divers were treated to some spectacular coral gardens and manta ray sightings as well as the usual myriad of fishlife.

At Home with the Furry Time-Wasters

Even when you have to spend time in the office to catch up on the never ending mountain of paperwork, there is still time to capture images of my favourite furry time-wasters, Lucy and Kai. These two gorgeous "kittens" are my constant computer buddies who just love to help by knocking down papers or sitting directly in front of my monitor as I'm trying to work.

An inpromptu baby bump session for a very special friend. The weather was far from perfect but we managed a short session. "L" was an avid scuba diver before falling pregnant, so was very keen on using a few scuba props for her mini shoot.

A New Year's Day Wedding

What a perfect way to start a new year ~ a barefoot Cocos wedding.

J & S and their special friends M & S, celebrated their day at a gorgeous location, the Yacht Club on the southern end of West Island on the Cocos (Keeling) Islands. Their wedding was so much fun, full of love and laughter. Congratulations J & S and may you have many happy years together.
